Malmö City Tunnel (2009)

Delivery of 4,500 Light Fixtures  – A Plug-and-Play Solution

SafeExIT A/S has delivered three types of lighting for the 6 kilometer tunnel under Malmö city.

  • Standard ceiling lights
  • Emergency lighting
  • Escape route/Fire exit light fixtures

SafeExIT’s solution was chosen partly because it was a plug-and-play system – fast and easy to install and easy to maintain.

The 4,500 light fixtures in the Malmö tunnel are all developed by SafeExIT A/S in collaboration with the German-American company Cooper Lighting and Security.

Time is always a crucial factor, and SafeExIT’s light fixtures were delivered as a so called ”plug-and-play” solution, ready-made to install upon delivery. When, in time, maintenance has to be carried out, this can be done without turning off the power supply to the tunnel, which saves both time and cost.

Ceiling Lights – Primarily Based on Energy Efficient Diode Lighting

Two of the three solutions for the Malmö City Tunnel are based on energy efficient diode lighting and all light fixtures are strong and durable, produced in stainless steel or moulded aluminium.

Emergency Exit Light Fixtures – Robust LED Exits

Robust LED Exit, in stainless steel, has proven its durability in operation in the Copenhagen Metro as well as in the Øresund Tunnel.

For the emergency escape path, SafeExIT has developed the panic light, SafetyCube LED, which, via a lens spreads the light optimally.

The light fixtures for the ceiling are produced in aluminium, and are very easy to install and they withstand high pressure cleaning.
