City Tunnel in Malmö (2009) – in english

Delivery of 4,500 Armatures – a Plug-and-Play Solution

SafeExIT A/S has delivered three types of lighting for the 6 kilometer long tunnel under Malmö.

  • Standard ceiling lights
  • Emergency lighting
  • Escape route/Fire exit armatures

SafeExIT’s solution was chosen especially because it was a plug-and-play system – quick to install and easy to maintain.

The 4,500 armatures in the tunnel at Malmø are all developed by SafeExIT in collaboration with the German-American company Cooper Lighting and Security.

Time has been a crucial factor and SafeExIT’s armatures were delivered as complete plug-and-play solutions, ready-made to install. When the time comes to disable them for maintenance, it is not necessary to cut off the power supply for the tunnel, which both saves on time and costs.

Standard Ceiling Lights – Primarily Based on Energy Efficient Diode Lighting

Two of the three solutions for the City Tunnel are based on energy efficient diode lighting.

Resilient armatures in stainless steel or aluminium moldings.

Emergency Exit Armatures – Resilient LED Exits

The exit lights are made by Resilient LED Exit, produced in stainless steel – the exact same armatures which have proven their safety in operation in the Copenhagen Metro as well as in the Tunnel of Øresund.

For the panic lighting on the emergency escape path, SafeExIT has developed the SafetyCube LED, which disperses light optimally through a lens. The ceiling armatures in aluminium moldings are extremely easy to install and sustain high pressure hosing.
